Style Inspiration

Loving this Stylista's Ensemble.

She pairs vintage pieces with a reasonably priced garment, proving that you don't have to spend a lot to look fabulous, but it is more about the way you style and put together a look.

Black Swan Ensembles

Finals Week at SMU=Lack of blogging sadly, but I'm home for Christmas break and I have been DYING to see this movie Black Swan! Black Swan is not only supposed to be amazing for Natalie Portman's Oscar-worthy performance, but also because of the fabulous ballet ensembles that designers, Kate and Laura Mulleavy (below) of Rodarte created! I will be seeing this movie mainly for the ballet designs, but also, to see the drama that the actors displayed in this movie! Here is the signature design of the ballet tutu Natalie wears! Go see the movie if you haven't yet, and also, be warned, this isn't the Nutcracker type movie, much darker!

Style Icon of the Day

Karlie Kloss is the repetitive name I see in fashion magazines, blogs, and fashion videos. She is the reigning "IT" model-and only 18-this supermodel has modeled for the top fashion houses in the business including Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, and Karl Lagerfeld. But, it is not her success that completely inspires me, it is her humbleness through it all, as well as her healthy lifestyle-not falling into drugs and disorders, but maintaining a happy, normal lifestyle-while rocking the runways of the greats in fashion!

Style Icons of the Day

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen! This stylish duo are style icons because they don't dress by everyone else's rules, but by their own. They wear what they want to, and don't care what people say, and that is what style is: Wearing what YOU want to wear, and ROCKING it! This chic pair also has three fashion lines that you should check out if you haven't already: The Row, Elizabeth and James, and Olsenboye! They are great designers and inspirational fashion icons to look up to!

Style Icon of the Day

My style icon of the day is Jane Birkin. Infamous British actress and the infamous "IT" bag, the Hermes Birkin is named after her. Also, Jane's daughter, Charlotte Gainsbourg just debuted an album last October, with the hit song "Trick Pony".

Style Icon of the Weekend

This style icon is very personal to me. She is a major influence in my life, and the reason that I began to love this enchanting world of fashion. Her name is Jackie O., first lady and leader of fashion in the 60's. And my motto is WWJD (What Would Jackie Do) because she is classy, stylish, and a HUGE role model in my life!

Style Icon of the Day

Georgia May Jagger is my style icon of the day. She is daughter of infamous Mick Jagger and is now the muse of Karl Lagerfeld. She resembles Bridgette Bardot and rocked the Chanel Resort 2011 Runway! Here are photos of her from the runway and from the new Chanel ad.

Style Icon of the Day

School has been taking over everyone's lives here at SMU, esp. with finals coming up. But, I want to stop and admire this style icon, Edie Sedgewick. If you haven't seen "Factory Girl" go now and rent it because the fashion that Edie wears at Warhol's factory is awe-inspiring and the styling is fabulous! Below is the beautiful Edie.

Style Icon of the Day

I always start my day first doing my work (I am an undergrad college student/intern) then I blog and twitter, and my favorite thing to check everyday on twitter is Elle's Quote of the Day. These quotes are from talented individuals and always inspire me for the rest of the day. I want to start a daily blogpost now to inspire my readers' days. This post is called 'Style Icon of the Day' and I will list my favorite style icon (living or passed-away) that I am inspired by and appreciative of the talent they gave. My first 'Style Icon of the Day' has to be none-other than Alexander McQueen. This man can not be classified just as a fashion designer, but a true artist in the fashion industry and made his garments have movement, beauty, and were awe-inspiring. He is not with us, but his legacy carries on.

Here is the sixteen STUNNING looks from McQueen's Last Collection: Fall 2010

Textilin' and Style Profilin'

My new background is by the artist/fashion designer Mary Catherine Moody. I blogged about this girl earlier in August, but have an update. She is now designing a Fall 2011 collection in collaboration with a guy named Brent for their brand called Aman Stovall! This name is killer and the textiles/adornment that Mary Catherine has posted on her blog are ahmazing and getting me really excited for the launching of Aman Stovall. Follow their blog at www.amanstovall.blogspot.com and check out updates of the brand on amanstovall.com!

Far From a Plain Jane

Meet Jane Aldridge: She started her fashion blog, SeaofShoes.com in April 2007, when she was just 15 years old! The blog began as a hobby and turned into an international destination for all fashion lovers, including me!  Jane also has celebrity fans that read her blog including Tory Burch, Kanye West, and Rachel Zoe- to name a few! The blog is centered around Jane's admiration and passion for shoes, as well as chic vintage treasures and inspiring finds. Jane lists Marni and Prada among her favorite shoe designers, and I had the pleasure of running into Jane at the fabulous Neiman Marcus here in Dallas, and found her to be so sweet and a pleasure to talk too! Below is the photo of me and Jane, and yes, she was wearing fabulous Giuseppe shoes! Check out her blog at Seaofshoes.com and also, her mom's blog is all about interior design and it is called AtlantisHome.typepad.com! Jane told me she is currently taking a year off to explore her interests and will possibly go to Fashion Institute of Technology for Undergrad!

My love for fashion

I have loved art and fashion since I was young but my strong passion and appreciation for fashion began when I was about eight years old! It began when my mom took me, just me, ha i have three other siblings, to New York City! In NYC, we did the normal touristy stuff, we went shopping on 5th avenue and Madision, went to Broadway shows, and the Empire State Building, but most memorable was when my mom took me to see the fashion designs of First Lady Jackie O. Jackie Kennedy is my absolute idol and has been since forever! I saw all the beautiful designs by Chanel, Valentino, and Dior and fell in love with fashion! Also, Jackie O. is my idol for other reasons such as her classic elegance. I always say to myself WWJD (What would Jackie do) because I always want to achieve a sense of elegance in my dress and manner.

The Future

The Future can be a scary thing for people! You don't know where you are going to be because life takes turns and my motto is "Life is a journey, and you just have to let it take you where you are supposed to be." Things do happen for a reason, people come into your life for a reason, and you do learn from the past. There are things I want to change that I have done in the past, but I have learned from my mistakes and have matured from them. The most important thing I have also come to learn is to know who I am! I do not follow the crowd, but follow my heart! I know what my passion is, where I want to be in the future, what my purpose in life is, and most importantly who I am as a person, so if I know all that then I am just going to do anything I can to get where I want to be life, and I don't know my exact path of how I am going to get there but I do know that I won't stop until I achieve my dreams! And I will always be living and loving fashion because it's my passion!
